The Word - May 21, 2012  -  Don't Worry

"Don't worry about anything, instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6)

The advances in modern technology is scary, at least for me. My wife and I just purchased new cell phone. Beyond the fact that we can now call each other from almost anywhere on the globe, we can see each other as we talk. By next week the one's we have now may be "yesterday's news."

Still, there is one thing that never changes; that is the way we talk to our Heavenly Father. Do you find yourself in a troubling situation? Are you worried about an uncertain future. If so, call home and talk to your Father in Heaven. The Bible assures us that we will encounter troubles and trials in this life.

We need to realize that whatever the trial, it is not a disaster, but a divinely designed event. That trial may well be a tool God can use to refine you and draw you closer to Himself. We have a direct line to our Lord who has says, "Cast your burdens on Him, for He cares for you." James explains that trials test our faith and help us to grow up in Christ (James 1:2-3). Our problem too often is we fail to grab the "prayer phone", as it were, and talk to our Father.

As children of the King, we have an open line to the throne room in glory. Our Heavenly Father loves to hear from us. We never have to leave a voice mail. God promises us that if we call on Him He will answer. (Jeremiah 33:3).
