- WE MUST
ALWAYS PRAY
"One day Jesus told His disciples a story to emphasis that they
should always pray and never give up" (Luke 18:1).
Luke, the beloved physician, gives
us the prescription of the Great Physician, for treating disappointment;
"people should always pray." We are to pray when we feel like it, and
pray when we don't feel like it. There is never a time when we can say we have
no need to pray.
We need to pray when everything is going well, and we
need to pray when everything seems to be going wrong. When the devil said to
the Lord: "Job has good reason to fear
God. You have put a wall of protection around him and his home, and his
property. You have caused him to prosper in
everything he does." (Job 1:9-10)
But as we shall see, when everything went bad for Job and
he suffered the loss of almost everything, including his property and children;
He still looked to the Lord and trusted Him. Even in a trial, Job was able to
look up, he tore His robe in grief, shaved his head and "Fell to the ground and worshiped God."
Faith in God recognizes that God's ways are perfect, even though they are past
finding out.
"We comprehend Him not,
Yet earth and heaven tell,
God sits as Sovereign on the throne
And still does all things well."
Our Scripture leaves us in no doubt. In order for the believer to experience
power in our prayer life, He wants us to pray always and believe for the fulfillment
of our need. Prayer is to be incessant and
unrelenting until God gives the answer. Delayed answers,
by nature tend to cause us to lose heart. "Hope deferred makes the heart
sick" (Proverbs 13:12).
Heartsickness is the natural human response when things don't go the way we
would like, and the enemy comes to add his demonic fuel to the fire of our
doubts. Our Scripture says, Don't give up! Keep praying; never
lose heart!.
