- AMAZING LOVE
"O Lord, you have examined my
heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You
know my thoughts even when I am far away. You know what I am going to say even
before I say it, Lord. You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of
blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; too great to
understand" (Psalm 139:1-6).
There is a great deal in the Holy
Scriptures that are difficult to understand. It was concerning such truths that
David exclaimed: "Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; too
great to understand."
Since the advent of Jesus Christ, far more has been revealed to us than David
ever dreamed of, and now the Lord has even given us His Spirit to help us
understand truths then unknown. There are precious passages, especially in the
writings of Paul, which we will never completely understand in this life,
simply because they are "too wonderful." and high for us to fully
understand. We can believe them, of course, and rejoice in them!
Perhaps one of the most difficult for we mortals to fully grasp is in relation
to the position of the believer as being "In Christ."
Just one other Scripture which has always gripped my soul and left me filled
with the wonder of it all. "For He (God) has made Christ to be sin for
us, He who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in
Him."
Can it really be true! Jesus Christ
made sin that I might be made, not merely righteous, but "the
righteousness of God in Him"! Dear Lord, I cannot take
this in, it is too wonderful for this poor sinful heart to fully grasp! Yet I
believe it and rejoice over it "with joy unspeakable and full of
glory."
"And can it be that I should gain an interest in the Savior's blood! For
me? who Him to death pursued? Amazing Love! How can it be that Thou, my God,
should die for me!"
