The Word - May 1, 2012 - ACKNOWLEDGE HIM IN ALL YOUR WAYS
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and
He will direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6).
The obvious assumption in this verse is that if you
acknowledge Him in all your ways, and God directs your paths, and you trust Him
with all your heart, you are going to fly again and again in the face of your
own understanding, and your own human wisdom.
You see, if people were guided ob their own understanding, much of the
Bible would have to be eliminated. Many key stories such as: Noah building the
ark and Abraham leaving his home town to set out on a journey with no idea of
where he was going.
Moses would never have led Israel out of Egypt; David would never have faced
Goliath, and Paul would have stayed in Tyre and not
traveled south. None of these familiar stories would exist if all those
patriarchs of old had leaned on their own understanding.
Have you ever stopped
to realize that God doesn't lead us around obstacles, He leads us to them and
through them; and in those obstacles we are tested, we are strengthened, our
faith is tried.
So, dear friend, where is the compass of your life pointing? So you have this
burning desire; is it
from God? Sometimes God calls us to do things, or live in a
certain way that seems impossible. But the question to ask is never is it
possible, but is it right? And if based on the direction of the Holy Spirit, if
we discern it is right and never against the Word, God will help us make it
possible.
Is it from God? What does the Scripture say? Then don't be afraid, for when you
start to go wrong, the voice of the Lord will whisper in your heart, "Hey, not that way; this is
the way, walk in it!"
